I was listening to KCRW (http://www.kcrw.com) and this rockin' 50's, Bill Haley-like song started and then big bandish horns kicked in, followed by what appeared to be nonsense vocals (to my ear, but they were in fact Hindi), and I was hooked. It appears to be a musical production number from a 1957 Bollywood film ("Aasha"), and I was transfixed! But then I go to see if there's a longer version of this scene (there is, which ends with the candles setting a fire), and then I stumbled onto a 2012 music video cover version by Goldspot, and I'm equally floored! It's funny how the '57 version sound checked the Bill Haley vibe, and the 2012 version seems to sound check The Name Game by Shirley Ellis with its fast paced lyric portion near the end.
Here's the 1957 musical production number of Ina Mina Dika (aka Eena Meena Deeka) from the Bollywood film, Aasha

I guess a lot has to be said for the original songwriter(s) having come up with a lasting musical and lyrical piece. How could anyone not love these two versions?! If I ever need a smile, these will be my go-to musical meds. Enjoy!
